The lack of articulation in the primary light and the solar panel make it difficult to use in any application other than a direct heads on fashion.This is a good light mention detection light. You have to make sure the awning is not covering the solar panel for it to get good sun exposure. A great option to help bring down your electricity bill.This here only had two hours of daylight and look. I love it and easy to install.One of the lights only worked one evening, then stopped. Ordered a replacement set and the same thing happened a few weeks later with both lights. Not worth the money!Stopped working a short time after installing thought was a sun issue but after a few days of a bad rain storm this happenedThese 2 solar charged motion lights are nice as you can mount just about anywhere they will received sunlight to charge.The 2 side or wing lights are flexible in their positioning. They can sit flush with the main body or can be angled upward & are also twistable.The plastic mounting plate has 2 screw holes. You are somewhat limited on spacing as you need to slide the light unit into this from the top. This means you can't mount directly under a gutter if you don't have about 3" or more of mounting space. Also on the mounting plate there is a clip that should hold this in place or allow you to press in if you want to remove the light unit. On the 2 in my package, this clip does not extend out so it does not secure this at all, very easy to slide back out.Also for both the solar panel & the main light unit, you only have up & down movement. You can't turn, rotate or have any side to side movement at all so you have to take this into account where you want to mount. This & that the clip does not lock in place are my 2 main dislikes about these lights.The remote has a fairly short distance but does work to change the mode of the light. There are no adjustments for the length of time this is on other than the mode you select.Mode1 - Auto Sensor mode - Stays on full power for 22 seconds after motion detected.Mode2 - Sensor Dimming Mode - Provides low light until movement detected & then offers full brightness for 22 seconds.Mode3: - Always on at 22% power - sensor does nothing. Switches to Mode1 after 4 hours.We currently have these 2 to offer motion light where our cars are parked on our property. For that they do work fairly well so far. They do provide good light, not super bright but enough to see when parking or bring attention if critters or people are detected near by.In the end, I like this light. But it's not without fault.It came well-packaged and was easy to install. The directions are nothing to brag about though. Thankfully, they weren't needed for installation. Setup on the other hand, was a bit tricky. Since the directions aren't very good, it did not specify that the lights will flash on for a second when you successfully turn them on. So it took me a bit of time to determine when/if they were actually on. Unfortunately, by the time I figured it out there was not enough time for the light to fully charge. So it came on at dark in Mode 3 (dim at 20%) until it died. Another gripe is that there is no affirmation from the remote when you change modes. Further, I can not get the remote to turn the lights on and off. Honestly, I'm not sure if it's changing modes or working at all! EDIT: After replacing batteries in the remote, I have determined it does not work!After realizing the remote was non-functional, I decided to try to change modes with the buttons on the back of the light. I pressed it once assuming it was in Mode 1 now. The light flashed once and then began to function as it should! Yes!It has worked flawlessly since installed. The motion sensor works great. I like this light and the installation was super easy. I have to ding a star for the non-working remote though!I was a little dubious about this set when I unpacked them: they seemed to be really cheap and flimsy. Lightweight and mostly plastic - but they do put out a very bright light, upon detecting movement. They were a simple matter to install and set up. One is in an area that gets only a little strong direct sunlight during the day, but it lights up perfectly upon detecting movement, all night.
