You can fill it with just water -- most you can't -- and have, I think, a 265-lb. base. This is a HUGE benefit.Large fill holes, large drainage holes. If one requires sand and one doesn't, you have to factor in the cost of the sand.. And if it has tiny holes, factor in the irritation of getting 200 pounds of sand through those tiny holes.And if lifting a 50 pound bag of sand is not your idea of a good time, or something you could even do, that's potential cost, as well.In the end, in summary , I shopped really carefully for my umbrella and stand, both De Conk, and I have been really pleased with everything about them.
